Turning vision into reliable engineering solutions.

Hi, I'm Orlando — a Machine Vision Engineer and Vision Integrator with a background in electronics, industrial automation, and software development. I enjoy solving the problems that stand between a good idea and a system that works on the production floor.

01 / ABOUT ME

A multidisciplinary perspective, with engineering at the center.

I'm an electronics engineer working in machine vision and industrial automation, where cameras, optics, lighting, control systems, and software come together to solve real manufacturing challenges.

In my work at Samuel Automation, I focus on vision-system integration, inspection and measurement applications, machine communications, and practical software tools that help manufacturing teams access and use their data.

My background also includes a Master of Engineering in Energy Systems from the University of Melbourne, postgraduate studies in industrial automation, and a graduate certificate in Computer Applications Development from Conestoga College. That mix helps me approach problems from both the hardware and software sides.

Away from engineering, you'll probably find me exploring new technologies, enjoying music, playing chess, or spending time outdoors with my family.

More about my professional background
02 / WHAT I DO

Engineering systems that see, measure, and communicate.

My primary focus is machine vision. Software development is another tool I use to connect equipment, improve workflows, and make information useful.

01

Machine vision & inspection

Vision-system design and integration for automated inspection, presence/absence checks, identification, defect detection, and image-based decisions.

Cameras & sensorsOptics & lightingInspection tools
02

Precision measurement

Evaluating field of view, resolution, working distance, and calibration methods for dimensional measurement and challenging industrial parts.

HOW I APPROACH A CHALLENGE

Start with the application. Understand the constraints. Choose the right technology. Test, refine, and make it work reliably.

03 / EXPERIENCE & SELECTED WORK

From production-floor engineering to custom applications.

Today, my work is centered on machine vision and automation. Below are examples of the types of engineering challenges I work on, followed by some earlier software projects that shaped my approach to building useful tools.
